Eastern NE 4-H Center is an extension service of the University of Nebraska on Schram Aquarium property. In 1988 the Lincoln Center Kiwanis designed and planted a tree arboretum with teaching stations. The trees and shrubs have their feet set in sand which is a challenge for anybody to stand. Since 1998 Douglas/Sarpy County Master Gardeners of UNL extension have volunteered many hours each season to tend 10 educational gardens. A vine Arbor entryway offers an abundance of native plantings. A woodland flower garden quietly adorns the Native American Life Interpretative garden display with handicap accessible walkway lined with wildflowers. Prairie Grass and Forb boxes sit next to an interactive learning kiosk high above six plus acres of restored prairie to teach outdoor educational classes each spring and fall about diversity of land and animals. Be sure to check in with 4-H Center Director for printed Arboretum guide.
