"Sustainable landscapes for healthy homes & communities"
Welcome to the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum (fast facts), begun in the 1970s (brief NSA history) by a small group of people who wanted to create a network of arboretums in Nebraska where plants could be grown and displayed "to enrich lives through the beauty and wonder of plants."
What resulted was the founding of an arboretum unlike any in the world, a remarkable network of arboreta, parks, historic properties and other public landscapes accessible and relevant to citizens across Nebraska.
For more than 3 decades, NSA has provided plant and landscape information and publications, worked to promote rare trees and plants and underutilized native plants, and inspired gardeners all across the Great Plains.

People become members of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum for a host of reasons:
♦To continue Nebraska's rich tree-planting heritage
♦To help protect native plant communities
♦To associate with others who share the same passion for plants
Join and receive these member benefits:
♦ Arboretum publications and E-news with seasonal plant and landscape recommendations
♦ A unique, cutting edge selection of plants, most of which are not currently available in the nursery trade: underused native and adapted perennials for the Great Plains; trees propagated from unique Nebraska seed sources and trees produced in smaller, more affordable sizes.
♦ Research Consortium - access to new and useful plants
♦ Calendar - educational and inspirational tours, workshops, conferences
♦ Community Landscape program - assists communities with landscape enhancement efforts
♦ Free Admission at over 230 arboreta, gardens and conservatories across North America
NSA is both a non-profit horticultural organization and a program of the Nebraska Forest Service, part of the University of Nebraska's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources. NSA achieves its mission of “sustainable landscapes for healthy homes and communities” through initiatives in education, community landscapes and the environment.
