Affiliated as a "Landscape Steward" site since 1996

Nestled into the pine-covered hills of northwest Nebraska, is the picturesque campus of Chadron State College. The 280 acre site is reflective of the traditional college campus with expansive lawns, scattered trees and foundation plantings. More recent plantings, however, are placing an emphasis on water conservation and a reflection of the natural beauty of the surrounding Pine Ridge region. Prominent features of the arboretum include the Xeriscape demonstration gardens planted around the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center, landscape enhancements along the recently completed Heritage Trail and numerous trees, shrubs and other plantings scattered around campus.
