Affiliated as an "Accredited Arboretum" site since 1988

This 17-acre site includes many mature examples of shade and ornamental trees, including specimens of ginkgo and horhornbeam. The Zoo also has an established butterfly garden, a cactus/succulent collection, an aquatic plant collection, as well as many flowering shrubs, evergreens and perennials. A recreated prairie area, herb garden, and children's garden, are all being established. Much of the landscaping is planted in a manner to present the different animal species in their natural habitat.
