PSC's
"Campus of a Thousand Oaks" is the 2009 NSA Excellence award winner and
is nestled in historic southeast Nebraska. As Justin Evertson so aptly
stated, "It is great to see a college landscape that ties so
beautifully into its natural setting". One of our arboretum's features
are two historic Ginkgo trees that were planted in 1946 by Dr. J. C.
Christ. Another feature is the naturally occuring hybrid Oak, Deam's
Oak, a cross between a Bur x Chinkapin Oak. A new addition is the Oak
quercetum located at the Centennial Complex on campus. At the present
time, there are about 80 Oak trees representing 45 varieties Of Oak and
Oak hybrids in the quercetum. There are also several varieties of
native Oak as well as other non-native trees on campus. You will enjoy
the diversity of the annual and perennial plants at PSC. We invite you
to come sit in the rose garden or take a stroll through Nebraska's
first and oldest college. A brochure or tour is available from the
curator.
