What is the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum?
The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum was
founded in 1978 by a small group of people who wanted to
create a network of arboretums in Nebraska where plants could
be grown and displayed "to enrich lives through the beauty and wonder
of plants." What resulted was the founding of an arboretum unlike any in the world;
a remarkable network of arboreta, parks, historic properties and other
public landscapes accessible and relevant to citizens across Nebraska. - For more than three decades,
the NSA has provided plant and landscape information and publications,
worked to promote rare trees and plants and underutilized native
plants, and inspired gardeners all across the Great Plains.
- The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum has over ninety affiliate sites (arboretums, historic landscapes and other public gardens) in more than fifty communities. This network is unique in the nation.
- The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum has delivered over $8 million in grants to more than 245 communities resulting
in over 1,000 public landscaping projects involving parks, schools,
libraries, hospitals, business districts, and other places important to
community life.
- Through
our network of affiliate sites, along with a host of programs and
membership benefits, we aim to make you successful in your gardening
and landscaping efforts in the challenging conditions of the Great
Plains.
