Fast Facts about the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum
Our vision, values and aspirations are summed up in the theme, Every Town a Garden, which declares our dedication to the greening of every community in the state. In nearly three decades of service to Nebraska , NSA has inspired and enabled over 200 communities to create beautiful public landscapes, making each a more attractive, healthy, vital place to live, work and visit.
- The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum was founded in 1978.
- The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum has over eighty affiliate sites (arboretums, historic landscapes and other public gardens) in nearly fifty communities. This network is unique in the nation.
- The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum has delivered near $7 million in grants to more than 200 communities resulting in over 800 public landscaping projects involving parks, schools, libraries, hospitals, business districts, and other places important to community life.
- The GreatPlants® Program of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum increases the variety of Nebraska-hardy trees, shrubs and other landscape plants available to consumers.
- The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum is a partnership between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, Inc., a private nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the IRS.
